Can shared stories build trust strongly enough to challenge fear, prejudice and the powerful people who control the town’s version of the past?
Port Barren is shaped by Aboriginal, white, Malay and Indonesian stories, with a town “full of stories” teaching people that belonging can be shared. These beliefs encourage listening and welcome, but conflict grows when outsiders are judged or silenced instead of understood.
